Why Dubai? You ask.
It has been said that “Dubai, is the NEW Middle East,” and Iwould have to full-heartedly agree as it is nothing like the old Middle East!!!
In a short period of years, Dubai has become a unique destination that is both a dynamic business center and a tourist paradise. It offers more attractions, shopping, and luxury hotels then you can imagine. Foodies enjoy choosing among multiple fine dining restaurants including Indian, Arabic, Filipino, French, Chinese, Japanese, and American restaurants.
Although you wouldn’t typically think of the middle east as a beach location, Dubai has beautiful beaches and clear water to enjoy during the 300 plus days of sun each year.
The art scene is impressive with many galleries, and museums for the art lover to explore.
Combine all of this with the melting-pot of culture, and you will see and experience things like never before.
The 7 Must-Do Things in Dubai
Visiting a city in a far away and strange land is often overwhelming. The idea of not only heading to the unknown but also the unclear picture of what you can do while there is frustrating. However, this doesn’t have to be your experience. Check out these seven must-do things in Dubai, and head into your adventure confident, and excited to explore the unknown.
Not everyone likes to shop, but everyone has to visit the Dubai Mall when in Dubai. It is the largest mall in the world with over 1,200 stores. You will also find multiple restaurants, a hotel, movie theater, and ice skating rink. Plus, the Dubai Mall features an aquarium and underwater zoo. Once you visit this mall, no mall will ever compare.
Burj Al Arab
If you are going to travel all the way to Dubai, you want your time there to be amazing, so stay at the award-winning Burj Al Arab. This luxury hotel features signatures ail-shape and sits on an island just off of Jumeirah Beach. Although you didn’t come here to sit in your room, if you decide to spend some time in the hotel you will be beyond comfortable. The views are exceptional, and the food is impressive. There is no better place to stay in Dubai.
Previously known as Chicago Beach, Jumeirah Beach offers visitors the perfect place to relax or play in the sun. You will find both public areas and hotel areas among the soft white sand. Splash in the water, soak up the sun, and barbecue with friends — most importantly enjoy yourself!
You have likely seen pictures of the Burj Khalifa since it is the tallest building in the world. But you need to see it for yourself. This impressive building is 2,722 feet high. Travel up to the 124th floor of the building where there is an observation deck. From the deck, you can clearly see the entire area. Although quite frankly the view feels more like you are looking down at the world than just the city of Dubai below.
Now just because Dubai is the “new Middle East” that doesn’t mean you don’t want to experience a little of the traditional Middle East— visit the Jumeirah Mosque for this type of experience. This mosque is the most famous in Dubai and is a favorite for visitors to see and photograph. Even if you are non-Muslim, you may tour the facilities and learn about Muslim culture and tradition. Visiting the Jumeirah Mosqueis a memorable experience.
The mosque is not the only place you should visit to explore the more traditional and historical side of Dubai; a visit to BastakiyaQuarter is amust. Built in the 19th century by Persians, the Bastakiya Quarter is one of the city’s most picturesque heritage sites. Here you can go to a tea house, visit museums and galleries, and explore the ancient world.
Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve
Now head out of the city and explore the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. This reserve is a pristine desert ecosystem that offers a lot for you to see and do. Here you can take a tour and discover the wildlife, ride a camel, and try sand boarding. You must try eating a traditional Bedouin meal, and don’t leave before sunset because the view is spectacular. As you can see, Dubai is not as scary or unfamiliar as you may have thought. There are plenty of fun and exciting things to do and explore while you are here.
